The Controversy over Shasta Daisy

American and Canadian studies have shown that all except one variety (May Queen) of Shasta Daisy studied, do produce viable seeds. Anecdotally from many sources, some seedlings may not be Shasta Daisies but will actually be oxeye daisies. This author can attest to that.
Gardeners do remove almost all seedlings of daisies as part of normal garden practice in the same way as dealing with any other self seeding flower, but it can and does get away and overrun perennial beds as can be seen almost universally in perennial flower beds containing white daisies, which appear to this author to be oxeye in the majority of sites.
